Water in Santa Rosa
The families in this rural area depended on water supply from the municipal truck, and during the rainy seasons, impassable roads prevented access. We built 53 water harvesting and storage systems together with the families. Today, they have access to safe water and no longer need to resort to sources unsuitable for human consumption.

Testimonials
In Santa Rosa, there were 65 families, so we implemented a community assembly to listen to everyone and reach a consensus. Through the construction of cisterns, we also learned that we don’t need big technologies to tackle big problems.

Having the cisterns and roofs to collect and store water helps us a lot. I use the water for drinking, washing, and dyeing the threads for my work, as I am a weaver.

In rural areas, with dispersed and distant homes, you need to think creatively for a solution that differs from the city’s. However, it’s something that can be solved in a relatively simple technical way and truly changes the lives and daily routines of each person. It enables access to a fundamental human right like water, saving time and effort.

They started bringing the materials, and I didn't know if I was dreaming. EWB kept their word. Before, we used to buy water to drink. And now, we don't spend on that anymore.
